Executing Digital Transformation Inside a Global Organization

In mid-2018, the president and chief executive officer of Siemens Canada was considering how to execute Vision 2020+, a growth plan developed by the company’s headquarters in Germany. A central pillar of the plan was digitalization, both internally across Siemens’ manufacturing operations and externally in how the firm supported its industrial customers.

Unlike GE, which pursued an ambitious and highly centralized digital transformation agenda, Siemens approached digitalization through a more distributed and execution-focused model.
